As the new year comes upon us, my newsfeed has overflowed with everyone's resolutions. I like the fact that in January it almost feels like you're starting with a clean slate. It's a new beginning for things that need to be changed in your life. So here are my top five goals for the year 2015!
This isn't a goal about losing weight to fit into a pair of jeans I had in high school. I want to really live a healthier life. I want to renew my commitment to God and rededicate my life to His teachings. I want eat healthier and walk more so that I'll feel better. I want to reduce the stress in my life and focus on my writing career. I want to be friends with those that are life giving instead of life taking. All of this is one goal and it starts with my relationship with God. I need to get back into studying my Bible everyday and nurturing my relationship with my Heavenly Father.
I am in the process of preparing my debut novel for self-publishing. I have researched my options and prayed over what to do with my finished manuscript. God has prompted me to research self-publishing, and I fell in love with idea of controlling everything about my book. I love to make the difficult decisions and see the end product of hard work. I'll be starting a blog about my journey through the self-publishing jungle for anyone else out there daring to take the first step toward being your own boss.
I know that I want to get my Phd, but I'm not sure on what to specialize in. Originally, I thought creative writing would be the wisest choice, but there are two problems with this: 1) I would have to move away from my family who needs me. 2) Creative Writing Phd's focus more on academic writing rather than fiction. So my goal for 2015 is to decide upon a focus before 2016!
I haven't had much luck in the romance department, but I would like to have at least one really great date in the next year. My dream is to meet my soulmate, but I want God to be in control of that. I'll settle for going out on one great date with a wonderful guy. Trust me, that's asking for a miracle with my luck!
My final goal is to read more books. I want to read at least 52 books in this year. That's one book a week! Add a part-time job and full-time writing to the mix, and you have a tall order in the making. Each week will bring a new book review that will feature some new talent as well as classics in the Christian Fiction world.
These are my main goals to make 2015 a truly wonderful year! I hope that you have taken some time to come up with your own goals that will benefit your life for the long-term. Have a Happy New Year!
