I know during this time of the year we all have lists of things we want for Christmas. My mom’s been bugging me to send her pictures of items that I want as a present. I’m having a truly hard time finding material things that I want.
In church, we’ve started a new series on “Circle Praying.” It’s based off the book, The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson. I haven’t read the book yet, but listening to my pastor describing how to look at things from all perspectives caught my attention.

We look at Christmas presents from one angle: What I can get from the store. Then we start making a list full of books, CDs, gift cards, clothes, toys, computers, tablets, programs, makeup, etc. It’s all about material items that we want the other person to buy for us.
But as I walk in a store and look over their merchandise, I really can’t find what I want so badly. In previous years it was easy to name five or ten must-haves, but not this year. Maybe I’ve grown up, or maybe I just am looking at gifts from another angle.
If God came down and asked me right now what I wanted for Christmas, here’s what my list would be:

To help me get the stories He put in my heart out there for others to read. I want people to see Christianity for what it truly is: a relationship with God. It’s a choice we all make, and even though we mess up, God is always there to help us.

To bring my soulmate into my life. Just like all the other singles out there, I get tired of the never-ending search for Mr. Right. I get lonely and sad. I occupy my time in other ways, but still it seeps in every now and then. I dream of having a wedding someday and a baby, but that’s not something you can buy at Macy’s.

To open every person’s eyes, minds, hearts, and souls, to God’s Word, so that we all can repent and be saved before it’s too late.

To end Satan’s power on earth. I’m tired of the flesh vs soul fight. I’m sick of Satan bringing more and more wickedness into the world. I’m ready for God’s Kingdom of peace to reign in a new Heaven and new Earth.
Those are the things I truly want for Christmas. It's not something that can be swiped on a charge card or purchased at WalMart, but it's my deepest desires. I trust in the Lord to grant these wishes in His Time.
