For singles, Valentine's day is not the easiest holiday to live through. I work in retail, so it makes it just a little bit harder on my part. I spent the week leading up to Valentine's day selling hearts, stuffed animals, cards, and various other gifts to those who had a Valentine. Nearly every purchase was a reminder that I would be spending the holiday with my cat...not fun.
But then, I realized something along the way. I do have a Valentine, and what's more, He doesn't need a holiday to show His love for me.
I think you know where I'm going with this.
God sent His only Son to show me the greatest love in the world. Jesus gave His life for mine on that cross because of His love for me. I don't need candy, a stuffed bear, or roses to know that I am loved in this world.
If you ask me, I got the best Valentine. I even have a book of love letters that I can read anytime I doubt His devotion to me.
Being single on Valentine's day is not the worst thing ever. God has a plan for my life, and maybe he just wanted to have me all to Himself one more holiday before sharing me with a man.
